Secwin 4

Secwin allows you to easily add Access Control and/or Product Registration to your application.

Access Control includes Logins and passwords, as well as screen level security.

Product registration lets you sell different levels or parts of your program so that you can target a wider market - and get paid for your application. With the arrival of Secwin version 4, this feature rich security package becomes even more powerful and easy to implement.

New Features included in Secwin 4

Product Integration

  • NetTalk 4 WebServer support:
This will allow you to manage access control to your Webserver applications the same way as you do for Windows applications. (coming soon)
  • Replicate support:
This will allow you to replicate Secwin files across multiple sites. (coming soon)

Access Control

  • Multiple user groups per user
  • Optional Password reminder via Email (coming soon - will require NetTalk)
  • Optionally allow Global Access setup in one place
  • and more.....

Licensing and Registration Control

  • Multiple Licence types: Permanent or Temporary.
This will allow current permanent users to get a temporary code for demoing new functionality, but reverts to their existing permanent code when the temporary code expires.
  • Send Registration details in an XML file (via email - requires NetTalk)
  • Multiple Counters
  • Easy implementation of Table restrictions

Secwin Online Server - Hosted Option

Secwin Online Server provides immediate access to temporary or permanent product activation codes for any product which has the Secwin online client feature enabled. Activation codes can be blocked for certain clients, products or datasets, allowing the supplier full control over product sales and distribution, but giving prospective or new clients immediate access to the product. Activation codes can be issued as temporary or permanent product codes.

You can buy the Secwin Online Server for your own server. However if you don't want the hassle of managing your own server, then read on.

A Secwin Online Server (SOS) is now hosted by CapeSoft. Developers who want access to SOS, but do not want to host SOS themselves , can subscribe to our hosted SOS for $49 per annum.

The annual subscription will give the developer a login and password for the web interface, which will allow you full access to all your products, registrations and related data. In addition, new registrations and daily backups of data can be emailed to you.

If (at a later date) you want to host your own server, then the data can be easily exported from the hosted server, and imported into your own server.

SOS Hosted Option is available from Clarionshop: www.clarionshop.com

World Tour Summary

Johannesburg, Sydney, Las Vegas, Cambridge

With the World Tour fading into distant memory, we thought we'd bring some feedback to those who missed out.

Jono's inimitable photographing helped capture the tour in more than just words: www.capesoft.com/WorldTour2007Photos.htm

Sydney: First stop: a home from home - we got a warm welcome from the ever-hospitable Aussies - and enjoyed a day of site-seeing before getting "stuck in" to the next 18 days of hard work.

Las Vegas:  Contrary to the number of fun pics, we did do training as well (as can be seen by the feedback on the 3rdparty News Group).

Cambridge: By this stage we're needing some sleep. But arriving at the tranquil setting of Cambridge (with some almost antediluvial architecture), our minds were quickly rejuvenated - ready for the last leg of the WorldTour 2007.

Out of all the feedback that we received back (from the feedback forms) - the only negative was that it could have been longer!! Otherwise, from the feedback we received, it looks like we achieved what we set out to do: Make this the most productive week of your year.

X-Files Prices increase on July 15

Last year we advertised that X-Files would be increasing in price from $39 to $59. Due to an administrative oversight the actual price increase didn't actually happen

xFiles was supposed to go for $59 since mid-last year, but due to an administrative glitch on our part, it's retained the incredibly low price of $39 - which we will keep until 15 July 2007

X-Files is a small, very fast, tool for creating, and parsing simple XML files. It doesn't have all the features of a full-blown parser, but it is very, very fast. We've been adding quite a bit of XML functionality to various products over the past while, and X-Files is quickly becoming a useful tool. We've already added XML support to Send-To using it, and you can expect it to start cropping up more and more. So if you don't have it in your tool-chest already then grab it now at the low price.
