CapeSoft Newsletter #47
- August 2005 -

Hi All,

I have some great news to share with you all again this month. Read on for more info...

HotDates Goes Blonde

Yip - it's official, HotDates is blonde (or gold). Of course with that comes the price increase to $299 - but we'll keep it at the brunette (beta) price of $239 for one more week, so if your credit card is being naughty again and stubbornly refusing to be whipped out, give it that extra nudge - because it'll hurt more in a weeks time <g>.

What's HotDates about (I thought you might ask)?

Well - Have you ever wanted to drop your date information onto a calendar? Leave, birthdays, order due dates, etc look so much more comprehensive on a calendar than in a list box. What about a schedule or planner to view and edit appointments and tasks?

Enter HotDates. Add HotDates to your program and, using the powerful and intuitive templates, you can add the ability to view date related information in a calendar in a few minutes. Print your calendar straight to a printer. Edit date related information from the calendars using Drag and Drop, Cut-Copy-Paste or a traditional form update. Drill down to month, week and day views.

Helpful Tip of the Month

Every now and then we receive emails and newsgroup posts from clients reporting that a file or page is missing or out of date on our website. Often this has proven to be due to files being cached somewhere along the way. Recently, in one such post, Jono offered some helpful tips for working around the problem:
"Sometimes a file gets stuck in a cache between you and the final server. Here are two tricks to get around this - and both have worked like magic for me.

1) You can often get around the caches by downloading the file from http://capesoft.com instead of http://www.capesoft.com.
For example if you are trying to download http://www.capesoft.com/ftp/public/isg55reg.saf then try http://capesoft.com/ftp/public/isg55reg.saf

2) Open a copy of the NetTalk NetDemo app (available in your 3rdParty/Examples/NetTalk/NetDemo folder or from http://www.capesoft.com/ftp/public/netdem.exe), and using the Web Client window turn on the "No Cache" option. Then enter the full URL in, and press the "Fetch" button. Once the file has downloaded you can press the "..." button to chose a filename where you want it saved to and then press "Save".
"
You can also try using our www.capesoft.co.za domain.

If you do find that any files or pages that are missing or out of date, please feel free to contact us at support@capesoft.com.

From the chilly winter CapeSoft HeadQuarters this month, we wish you HotDates! <g>
(Of course here in sunny Cape Town, "chilly" means less than 10° C).
