Clarion 6..2 has
arrived
Last month there was much excitement in the ranks as
Clarion 6.2 was officially released. Of course, it did take a while before we
could get our hands on it, and start testing our products. Fortunately, once we
received Clarion 6.2, most of our products were fairly straight forward
compiles, and uploaded within a week.

Also, Clarion 6.2 build 9046 has been
released. We strongly recommend that Clarion 6.2 NetTalk users upgrade to 9046
and NetTalk v3.40, as there were queue deletion problems reported using the
Clarion 6.2 9045 build. These have now been resolved in the 9046
hotfix.

Exciting advancements on the Office
Inside front
Office Inside has seen a number of new features over
the past several releases. One of the most exciting things we've added recently
has been the ability to easily (less than 20 seconds) add functionality into
your existing reports so that your users can create fully
editable Word or Excel documents from those reports. Just like that! No
code required.
This code requires Clarion 6.1 or later to work, and slots
in nicely with the Soft Velocity templates that enable you to similarly export
your reports to PDF, XML, Text and so on.

These new templates have been tested
with CPCS and FRB, and also support hand-coded reports!
The Word and
Excel classes have matured over the past months and now include hundreds of
methods, Outlook is steadily getting there as well. While many users are using
the classes directly to integrate Microsoft Office functionality into their
APPs, the next phase of our development will be to make more of that
functionality available via templates. We have already built templates to easily
handle importing and exporting data (including report extension templates),
Spell Checking, sending Emails via Outlook, and so on. Next on the priority list
is revisiting the Mail Merge functionality, and continuing to improve and
enhance the Editable Report template extensions.

Replicate keeps moving
forward
Replicate provides an automatic, driver independent,
file-version independent, mechanism for replicating the data in two or more
databases.
Basically, Replicate logs your changes, adds and deletes and
then using a transport manager of your choice, exports the changes to the other
sites, where the changes, adds and deletes are imported to that data set. This
all done completely automatically without your users having to do
anything!!
Replicate keeps getting
better:
- You can do a CRC check and automatically synchronize two databases with
the click of one button - without exporting the entire databases to logfiles.
- With the arrival of the Replicate Send&Receive FTP control templates,
we can fix the bugs in these routines for you. If you're using FTP, then it's
a good idea to at least do a partial LogManager upgrade to get the new FTP
procedures.
